From the moment the Challenger 51-L crew was first announced, people all over the world followed the joys, hopes, and heartbreak of these explorers and their very special mission—the education of our next generation of scientists, engineers, teachers, and yes, even astronauts.
I became convinced that the Challenger Learning Centers were the best environment for teaching science and math, and integrating them into all academic areas. I wanted to be a part of the team. Now, I still think the Learning Centers are first class teaching environments with outstanding professionals.
October 26, 2006--The Woodstock Independent details Astronaut Ken Reightler's visit to the center on October 17th.
October 18, 2006--Veteran Astronaut Ken Reightler is on site in Woodstock to share his experiences in space travel and help unveil the newest exhibit at the Challenger.
October 12, 2006--Meteorites are the building blocks of planets. Paul Sipiera from the Planetary Studies Foundation readies the newest exhibit at the Challenger.
September 1, 2006--Executive Director, Steve Otten and Lead Flight Director, Windy Krepel traveled to Texas to attend the Challenger Learning Center national conference. During this conference, representatives from all locations get together to discuss best practices.

May 25, 2006--Challenger Learning Center announces that on June 01, 2006 Ms. Anne Marie Baird, will be the new Community Relations Manager for the center. "Anne Marie brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Challenger Learning Center that will benefit students, teachers, volunteers and the community" stated Steve Otten, Executive Director.
May 17, 2006--Executive Director, Steve Otten, attends two day conference in Indianapolis for all Challenger Centers located in the United States. "We are fortunate to offer excellent programs to our students and the conference presented several great new learning concepts" stated Otten. The two day conference conducted by the national Challenger organization, presented new concepts for the 2007 program.

Challenger Learning Center successfully hosted family night and
over 30 participants enjoyed the Science Olympiad.
Attendees were challenged to explore science in a fun and family
environment.
February 2, 2006--The
Challenger Learning Center of Woodstock Illinois is fortunate to
have so many supporters - this week we enjoyed hosting Spike O'Dell
of WGN Radio at the center, and we are happy to report that Spike
successfully landed our Boeing 727 simulator with ease! Thank
you Spike and WGN for your support of the Challenger Learning
Center.
