Scout Programs at the Challenger  

FULL BADGE PROGRAMS are available through the Challenger Learning Center and we welcome the opportunity to be of service. To inquire on a date and or time availability, please call the center directly at 815-338-7722 Monday through Friday 9a - 4p.

 

Scientist Badge (Webelos)

This three-hour program will include all activities needed to complete the Weeblos Scientist badge.  Activities include:

• Testing Bernoulli's Principle

• Inertia

• Atmospheric pressure

• Air Pressure

• Water Pressure

• Rocket Building (Note: Launch is weather dependent)

• Creating Fog

• Center of Gravity

Age: Children ages 10+

Fee:  $25 per scout

Participants:  Minimum of 15 scouts

 

Space Exploration Badge (Boy Scouts)

This six-hour program will include activities needed to complete the Boy Scouts Space Exploration Badge.  Activities include:

• 2-hour simulated Rendezvous with a Comet mission

• Rocket Building (Note: Launch is weather dependent)

• History of Space Exploration

• Newton's Laws of Motion

• Space Craft Design

• Space Stations

• Careers in Space Exploration

Fee: $50 per scout

Participants: Minimum of 16 scouts

 

PARTIAL BADGE PROGRAMS:

 

Rocketry (Webelos or Boy Scout)

This 1-1/2 hour program will count towards a Webelos Scientist Badge or a Boy Scout Space Exploration Badge.

• Rocket Building (Note: Launch is weather dependent)

• Learn about and discuss each component part

Age:  Children ages 10+

Fee:  $15 per scout

Participants:  Minimum of 15 scouts

 

Space Mission (Webelos, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts)

This two-hour computer simulated space mission allows scouts to experience for themselves what is involved in working aboard the International Space Station.

 

Age:  Children ages 10+

Fee:  $400 per mission

Participants:  Minimum of 16, Maximum of 32
